Each month we introduce you to two of our Provita Pros, from New York and Los Angeles, and ask them a series of questions in order for you to get to know them on a more personal level. In addition, they will also provide fitness and wellness tips to help get you to a better state of health. Now that the month of January is behind us, we’d love to introduce you to our February Provita Pros.  Sit back, relax, and get to know our Pros, who are the backbone of Provita.

Ivorie is one of our Yoga Pros in LA, a Pilates instructor, and has over 18 years of dance experience. Her goal for her clients is for them to continually find progress in their practice while creating vibrant health, reduced stress and clarity of mind.

Question #1 In this month of love, how do you express or give yourself love daily?
I am fortunate that my careers are centered in environments that promote healthy considerations so that I may show myself love every day.
Before I was a yoga teacher, I was a professional dancer. That expression of creativity felt like love every day I was on stage or in rehearsal. Now as a yoga teacher, each day I practice is an expression of self care. As well, each day I teach is an expression of love to my students. I also moonlight as a part time manager  at Café Gratitude!  It’s an amazing organic, locally farmed, sustainable vegan restaurant where gratitude and love abound. Love is all around me!

Question #2 Tell us about your favorite teaching (pose, breathwork, technique) that you love to teach to duets or couple’s.
Back to Back Meditation! Sit back to back with your Beloved in Sukkasana (this can be with a lover, friend, child or parent). Set a timer for 10 minutes (or longer if you have time!) To begin, reach arms out to the side and hold hands. With hands embraced, take 5 rounds of deep breaths. Tune in to the cadence of your partners breath. You don’t have to match their breath however. Naturally and magically your bodies will attune with each other. At the end of the last round, allow eyes to close and focus to settle on the Third Eye.  Feel the solid support of your partner behind you and know that you are in the presence of love.

Question #3 During the winter season, do you have a particular routine or practice you do to warm up?
Copious amounts of Rooibos tea and Kapalabhati Pranayama! Some people think that Kapalabhati is only for the mat. I do it anywhere and anytime I am cold! The movement of snapping the navel to the spine is like stoking a fire. It heats the body from the inside out. Try a few rounds the next time you’re feeling chilly.

Mistral is one of our Yoga Pros in NY as well as a professional modern dancer.  Her aim in teaching is to help bring clients to a place of comfort, understanding, and acceptance in their own body and practice.

Question#1 In this month of love, how do you express or give yourself love daily?
Each evening I take some quiet time, whether it be meditation or reflection on my day. That, and also giving myself an extra fifteen minutes to get where I am going so I can commute with a peace of mind.

Question#2 Tell us about your favorite teaching (pose, breathwork, technique) that you love to teach to duets or couple’s.
February serves as a great month to remind us of loving-kindness. I like to teach metta meditation, to help extend our good will and energy to others, both loved ones and all beings!

Question #3 During the winter season, do you have a particular routine or practice you do to warm up?
Not only do I teach yoga, but I am a professional dancer. I’ve been in many shows recently, and a proper warm up is key for being prepared to perform! Before each show I take time to move through a flowing vinyasa practice, with emphasis on alignment and core strengthening to feel grounded and warm.

Thanks so much for motivating us in this month of love, Ivorie and Mistral!
